The Paradox of 4chan
QAnon essentially started as a bit of an online joke. Pizza gate, which started it, was this idea that there were secret codes inside emails from Hillary Clinton's aide John Podesta. But then people very quickly came to sincerely believe it, and it snowballed out of hand. At its core, 4chan is just a messaging board. It's quite similar to Reddit. And two in particular, B and Paul, built up this culture as sort of offensive, nihilistic, anarchic.
