In the last century, we have been so blessed because all these artists who might have had that traditional training have come up and said, no, not interested. I'm more interested in abstraction. Or making something my own. That opened up a whole new world for artists. And so now i like to think of skill as not in your ability to render something that's in front of you perfectly but rather to do what you do consistently over and over and over.
