The attorney general's advising function over time, has been delegated to the assistant attorney general for the office of legal council. The head of o l c serves as kind of chief legal adviser to the executive branch and is responsible for providing constitutional comments on legislation. As a deputy in the Bush administration, i think my time was marked bylegal issues relating to the war and terror. But when you're the assistant attorny general, you were the final decision maker for the office.
