Are You Planning to Write an Autobiography or Memoir?

Tom Wright's publishers have muttered to him that a theological autobiography might be fun. I doubt if a real autobiographical memoir would work, the trouble is that there's a huge temptation to settle old scores and that does not read well. George Cadd who died sadly young was younger when he died than I am now. He was 67 and just about to retire as principal of Mansfield College. His famous book The Language and Imagery of the Bible explains what apocalyptic language is all about. But we wished how much we'd lived to have presented them to him after he died.
