Christopher Wachsten took the stand in his own defense. He admitted to sexually assaulting Arceli and also admitted he caused the head injuries that resulted in her death. His defense argued this wasn't first-degree murder but rather second-degree murder. The court heard police executed a search warrant at Wachsten's friend's home.
