Bell and Edison were direct competitors in the brand new telephone business. They played upon the public's interest in musical performance to show off their wares. Bell lacked the gifts of the born showman however he offered a concert concert lecture for an audience of 300 who had gathered at trickering hall in New York City on May 6, 1877. The audience was panned as complex and not very intelligible at last the audience was able to hear him speak his first words mr. Watson come here I want to see you which was came almost a year later after Bell had built a working model.
