Laura and her researchers simply subdue the critter with the towel. The first thing they do, either on the boat or on land, is to throwa howl over its head. And some other people side note, might subdue an alligator by rubbing their bellies. Don't mistake their chill for a spaw day reaction. It's the animal's response to a threat.
