The History of Mine Clearing in Europe
After World War II there were so many millions of mines that after the war at least in Europe the Europeans pressed German POWs into mine clearing. The Germans unlike every other mine laying force were very meticulous about it they had it down to a science and kept records on how far apart each one was. This is like one of the problems about dropping all these cluster munitions that Ukraine will be dropping I mean it's going to help in the sense that it will attract the Russians that are deeply entrenched but it means they can't really move forward there because there's going to be a lot of mines and unexplored ordnance.
