In 2011, Facebook did a rather infamous deal with Goldman Sachs that didn't go so well. At the time, Pre-Jobs Act, the laws were that you had to have less than 500 shareholders as a private company. In 2012, they amended their S1 filing to include Q1 numbers in Q1 of this year. And by the time they actually went public in 2013, there was over 50% DAU to MAU ratio which means over half of Facebook's users used it every single day.
