The Two Moving Parts of a Drawing
A drawing is broken down in two parts, values and edges. It doesn't matter if you're drawing a ball or a family of 10 from direct observation. Once the students get through that, we then teach them how to draw from life,. That thought process is identical to the painting process in grayscale. And then we move over and we add color. So we go from those two moving parts and drawing to three moving parts and color painting.
