The Genocide Charge in Cambodia

The Cambodian case was already being called a genocide. I think it's pretty clear no matter how you define genocide, genocide took place in Cambodia. Ultimately, even using the restricted UN definition, which was used in this court, they were looking at ethnic Vietnamese and Muslim jobs as the protected groups under the convention. But more broadly, as an anthropologist, my own view is that the targeting of any group, not just a set of protected groups who are protected, should be condemned.
