Protecting Douglas Fir From Climate Change
The velocity of climate change is orders of magnitude higher than what trees can migrate at, the pace that they can migrate at. And so we have to help them, we have to move them around. We need to shift away from clear cutting in the north to partial retention so we can migrate species and keep forests alive on the ground. So there's multiple benefits to having these old tree neighborhoods for enhancing regeneration, protecting new seedlings coming up, housing the biodiversity and protecting those carbon stocks.
