In his new book, Mavia of Tanuk argues that there was a cult of queens in pre-Islamic Arabia. Zenobia, Mavia and Khadija are the three most important female noble women who shaped Arabian history. "I did not set out to write a book based on some sort of grand theory ... I was merely doing what me and my colleagues do," he says.
