The Importance of Longer Duration Sessions

The relationship is exponential. So it takes a pretty big jump in power to get a real jump in speed. If I can extend the duration that I can hold power, and my ability to transition to the run rapidly, these places are where you suddenly can earn chunks of time. Whereas if I do a 10, 10 watt increase in my max power, that's not necessarily going to translate to the, to the long bike as well.
