Charlotte's early childhood was spent in what I would call rustic harmony. Her father died, he was just 44 years old. Six months after the loss of their father, their uncle also passed away. Mama was the legal regent for her minor son in two duchies. Charlotte's older brother, now Duke, and Charlotte's mother was his regent.
