Is It True That It Didn't Matter Whether You Could Play or Not?

Punk was a fusion of hard edged rock music with this almost defeat take on fashion. A lot of the bands that i went to see were from the sixties, really. Patty smith released her album in 19 75, which i got, and then i saw her alive in 19 76. And the romones came through. How would you define it musically, paul because i wasn't around at the time?
