The Battle of Aqui Sextia
The armies meet in the flat plains midway between modern day milan and turin, near a town called verselli. The romans were out numbered. According to their own reports, catalus was commanding around 20 thousand troops. Marius had brought around 30 thousand. But the cimbri and their allies, so we are told, were mustering as much as a hundred and 50 thousand fighters.
