The Importance of Virtue in American Life

In a letter to Governor Morris in 1802, Adams says he's still laboring to prop the frail and worthless fabric of the constitution. He also thinks that nobody other than himself has given so much and made done so much for the country and got so little credit for it. And as he suggests, really what he wants is for people to be more like himself.
