Is Glycene the Short End of the Stick?

Glycene gets the short end of the stick. Mathionine, for example, and lucine both rich in animal proteins inhibit the absorption of glycene by over 50% when present in equal or greater amounts. This effect is compounded when the two are combined, up to 86%. Prolene reduces the absorption of glycemine by about 50%. And this one is a lot harder to explain from an evolutionary perspective because we never had the ability to take glycene as an isolated ameno acid.
