The Problem With Low Far in Astrophysics

It's just very difficult to do this observation. And since the farther away you look, the smaller the signal will be. So a big part of part of the problem is looking at all the foregrounds and trying to take apart what other light might be coming into that wavelength. The fact that things move at tens or hundreds or thousands of kilometers a second also broadens the line tremendously. Even though in principle it might be a brilliant way to probe what's going on out there, you not only have all the intervening stuff between you and the object you're looking at to contend with.
