The root of codependency is our upbringing and our family or childhood environment especially if they were dysfunctional. Our attachment style patterns that were developed in early childhood are really going to influence whether or not we end up in this you know this kind of scenario with all of that in mind what I really want to discuss next is the distinction between codependents and healthy dependence or interdependency. We also outline some strategies for disentangling or distancing ourselves from codependent relationships a healthy amount.
