The Three Main Characters in the Immune System Play
In four acts, we're gonna have a play. All of these three characters are types of white blood cells. So anything that the adaptive immune response has responded to once, the second time it's exposed to that same virus or bacteria, it can respond much more rapidly and much more effectively. In your breath, you inhale an antigen. This might be a virus, a bacteria, a toxin,. Your neighbor's boogers, aerosolized poop, whatever. It's a foreign substance that doesn't belong in your body. And in your body, just waiting at the ready are thousands, nay, millions of these white blood cells ready to jump into action.
