John Avlon: We have neoliberalism doesn't work, and state is post-neoliberalism. What are some little shoots that are coming out of the ground that constitute your optimism about the middle part of this? Avlon: Let's recreate the space so that we're not like, pejoratively sort of pulling up because those labels can matter for where people understand. And I think an open question now is how to construct a 20th century industrial economy in which we have massive numbers of workers but no labor unions.
