Being a good person is second or third place to real for some people, anyway. First place is being an ashol when you can get away with it. It's not held hostage to the empirical claim that doing the right thing and being a good person are always in your self interest. And if it doesn't turn out to be the case that be moral a achieves that end, it's not the means to achieve that end. Well, the shouldn't h the shouldn't doesn't exist somewhere outside the possible states of consciousness of all the minds involved.
