Hugo Merci: I'm not sure that the truth bias concept, at least the way we see it, means you automatically believe everything you hear. So why don't we respond to all the advertisements we see? Well, because you can think they're true and not necessarily act on them or you can, you can accept the claims are true temporarily. And then shortly after that, realize I've actually just been watching an advertisement. They have self-interest. You know, they want me to buy stuff, I won't really believe it. Same with politicians. The old movie The Candidate with Robert Redford from 1972 or 73 has a very memorable scene where he becomes a reluctant politician
