The Importance of Listening to Existential Threats in Political Conversations

The only way you can get like all that rich knowledge working together is if everybody can authentically be in the conversation. And then there's a second problem, which is that some particular political positions are experienced as existentially threatening. So I feel like if you advocate exposition on abortion, then like my life existentially is immediately threatened. That seems to me really counterproductive because at the end of the day the democratic conversation requires bringing in people from different places into it.
