The Importance of Peep Pressures in Ventilation

If the peak pressures that I'm hitting are not already toxic I would consider going up on the peep. Even an x-ray which looks reasonably well expanded can look more congested if I were to shoot it four hours later even though nothing has changed necessarily with the patient or their event settings but just the picture lagged in such a way that it looked more expanded earlier than it did later and so the variability of x-ray alone makes it hard for it to be the sole thing to determine based on peep. At our hospital we tend I wonder if we're a little bit more liberal with APRV if you look at the open pediatrics material you see sort of a different opinion
