The Only Real Setback for the Queen Was the Handling of the Death of Lady Diana
Diana was profoundly american in her attitudes to celebrity. For the queen, monarchy is about service. It's about duty. Never telling anybody if your feet are hurting or you feel miserable. Diana made monarchy and made royalty about celebrity. They may look the same, they're different. So it was really, it was a, what happened between the queen and diana was, i think, a genuine tragedy. A clash of two different views of right and wrong, and it was utterly irreconcilable.
