Hadiakian is really putting a lot of faith into Suramaki. Anno told me that you don't have to make something perfect that everyone will love. I deliberately selected very obscure J-pop culture and anime subculture jokes and references. Because Ava was so somber, I always intended to make fully, fully outrageous and wacky.
