The Snake's Mouth Is Just as Wide as It Can Go
We need to turn the animal over on its back in order to access its internal anatomyright. It comes into many separate parts that are joined by very stretchy ligaments. The snake's mouth comes apart and turns into this much bigger thing, which it manages to crawl right over its prey using a ratcheting movement. And you can see even the teeth are designed for grabbing hold of that prey and pushing it downwards. They're curved backwards to make sure that everything just moves down the throat.
