The Ew That Is in View in Verse Five Is the Messiah or the Servant
Under the dividic covenant, the fate of the nation is very strongly correlated with the faithfulness or unfaithfulness of their king. People's eyes would thereby be raised to the awaited figure of the messiah. David and his house were not just leaders of the nation, but also witnesses to other nations. The queen of sheba coming from far off, for instance, one of the messianic hopes was that people from distant lands would learn about lord through faithful king.
