The Overturning of the Hot Hand
There was a study done in 1985 that said players who were hitting more shots in a row, actually their next shot tended to be a little bit more difficult. Joshua Miller basically says probability by its very nature has a cold hand built into the laws of probability. So if you flip a coin and you get heads, what's the likelihood that you're going to get tails next? You would think it would be exactly 50%. The probability of getting tails on any flip is 50%. But if you have a finite number of coin flips or shot attempts,. ultimately the probability reverts to the mean.
