The Challenge of the Modern World Is to Replace Tribal Brotherhood With Global Otherhood
Compassion and empathy are things which we tend to feel much more strongly for people of our own tribe. The same emotion that makes us feel compassion for our tribe can be the one that drives hatred for those whom we see, rightly or wrongly, as a threat to our tribe. So i'm tryg to get to sounds to me as though we ought to be rather worried about a world which is ruled by compassion. Because we are, aren't? We hard wired to feel greater compassion for people like ous es and for causes to which we have an emotional connection.
