The Concepts of Reasonableness and the Social Contract

The social contract, those behavioral norms that we've come up with collectively to define the necessary boundaries for a successful coexistence in the world have never been static by absolutely necessity. Rules and norms and even the law itself have all constantly evolved things that seem really quite abhorrent to us now but used to be seen as totally reasonable. And that's why we need to think really carefully about who has the power to set the rules today and whose interests those rules serve.
