David Frum: I don't know how things are going to play out. There's no guarantee that people are suddenly just going to shift to the new story. In some ways, when things become economically very and politically difficult, it can encourage fear. It won't necessarily ad to something better than what we have now. Right things could break down. We could end with a kind of warlordism. And in a way, like you say, i think we're becoming aware we're talking about new stories. Can do is the best i can do.
The first guest on Emerge is author, philosopher and activist David Loy. David and I first met at the Occupy Boulder General Assembly and our relationship grew from there. David work sits at the intersection of contemplative wisdom and social justice, making him a perfect first guest for Emerge.
In this episode we discuss the ways stories limit and liberate us, the symptoms of living in a world between stories, the nature of the (7+ billion) new stories, the difficulty of acting in integrity with what you know is true, and how to find the meaning of your life.
Enjoy!
