Investors holding PetSmart debt were afraid they were heading down the same path. Toys R Us was sort of a poster child of an Amazon victim, and also of a private equity retail deal gone awry. It's death may have been inevitable anyway, but it had been hastened by the large amount of debt that it had because of the spy out.
