The Salience Network and Creativity
The Salience Network is the most underrated brain network when it comes to creativity and understanding the neuroscience of creativity. This tends to include areas of the brain like the dorsal anterior cingulate cortices, the DACC for short, and the anterior insula or the AI. Those with a very high latent inhibition tend to be very good at inhibiting things automatically that are seem to be irrelevant to one's goals. They don't even entertain the possibility that things might be relevant if it's not obviously relevant. Those with very low or reduced latent inhibited tend to let everything come into the stream of consciousness. The link between creativity and mental illness is a very nuanced and interesting one.
