Is There a Real Return?
There's an investment return called the real return. So, if you did get a 14% return from an equity fund that year, and 7% of that is inflation, you've only had a real return of 7%. That's right. We're not going to chase risky investments just for the sake of 12 months. If you don't need the cash, it probably needs to get to work anyway. Money needs to find a home where it does a job. Jerry Seinfeld, do you remember his old joke? He sent his money to work and it got fired.
