What Does That Mean for Northern Ireland?
We've had this kind of zombie government where ministers have been in post, but they haven't been able to really take any big political decisions. When we hit midnight, well, from then on, the ministers are no longer in their roles. Then it's civil servants running things and really even less can be done. They can keep stuff going, but only really do the very basics, which doesn't help people's lives. So we enter this period of stagnation. We're going to be into potentially this campaigning period if the sexual state does come out and call an election, which he's threatened to do at one minute past midnight.
