The Importance of Human Genetics in Drug Development
In one of your research documents, you said that mice aren't terribly good at predicting what will happen in humans. And that's one reason why it takes 10 plus years and costs $2.5 billion to advance a drug from its earliest stages to approval. Is that really true? Well, it is certainly true that it takes 10 to 15 years and in excess of $ 2.5 billion on average to develop a drug. We find that fewer than one in 10 actually make it through and become approved drugs.
