The characters in snowcrash are very like isolated they've chosen to live with these people in this version of their world and that's maybe like the story living ones feel so much more like that but also bizarre because it's not even well. Even the the his version of like a corporatized America is like the mafia is a major franchise this um there's like the mr. least greater hong hong area and I think maybe that speaks as a kind of wider rejection of what reality and like trying to live in in the story.
