I'm a big proponent again of things like static analyzers and some of that stuff where you'll find some people that don't like being scolded by a program for how they've been something. I made a point to really go through and scrub the code base using every tool that I could find, it was eye opening. It's just beyond what we can hold in our heads as kind of mutable state while we're working on things.
