Recombinant Innovation - The Art of Collaboration
Recombination is a very important part of human innovation. It's about bringing two distinct technologies together to create something entirely new. Like for example, bringing together wheels and suitcases in the 1970s. Writer Matt Ridley has studied this process. How does it work in creative art forms like music? When we left him, Max Martin is at a low air. Between 2001 and 2004, he doesn't have a single US Top 10 hit. He works with Bon Jovi, Celine Dion, but nothing sticks. But that's when Max realises something. Here he is speaking at the polar prize ceremony in 2016.
