Hibakusha: Voices of Atomic Bomb Survivors

This chapter examines the harrowing experiences of atomic bomb survivors from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, known as Hibakusha, shedding light on their struggles for recognition and care from both the Japanese government and the international community. It critiques the ethical justifications for the bombings, highlighting the profound humanitarian consequences and the victims' continued fight against nuclear weapons. The chapter also discusses the formation of Nihon Hidankyo, the organization's efforts to advocate for the rights of Hibakusha, and their unyielding demand for nuclear disarmament despite a global arsenal of around 14,000 nuclear weapons.
