Earth overshoot day is the day of the year in which we over consume all the resources of earth. We use up our annual resource allocation that earth provides this on August 22nd okay so beyond that we are like permanently withdrawing down from earth and it's not sustainable according to a techno optimist plan. In 1968 Paul erlick predicted widespread famine by the turn of the century predicting widespread starvation he was completely mistaken but then 10 years later paul erlick made a bet with an economist julian simon famous economist they made a bet about the price of commodities. Today fewer people are starving today than any time as a proportion of the population at any time in history barring covid
