So far we've focused on espionage from an international law perspective. But there are scholars of other disciplines like intelligence studies, political science and ethics who've also been studying these questions. So what can these other disciplines say about the legitimacy of this operation? And they have the benefit of thinking about the practice of intelligence per se, right? Most international lawyers could venture wisdom is that there's nothing to say about espionage as such. The challenge has been to take these principles and translate them into legal form. That's exactly what I do. In a book I'm shamelessly plugging my own scholarship next year with Oxford University Press called International Law of Espionage Sprycraft & Counterintelligence.
