I hesitate to dismiss it out of hand because like most technology it's going to get better. What I've seen of it to date, I don't think there's anything to worry about too much in the near term. People are not suffering from a lack of reading material. They're suffering from a Lack of good reading material. The AI is going to have to develop a lot before it can actually compete with better authors in the genre.
