There's a perception in the US that the Belt and Road initiative is kind of, I don't know, aimed at the juggler of America or something like that. But you know, there is a certain faction in Washington, DC that anything that China does is automatically viewed in the worst possible light. And when it comes to sort of the debt trap diplomacy, which is a sort of meme that's come about to describe Chinese engagement with the global south,. A lot of these countries have plenty of experience with over indebtedness to Western dominant institutions like the World Bank IMF.
