The National Wrestling Alliance
When the national wrestling alliance formed in 19 30, everyone immediately started calling it the n w a. They didn't include canadians at first, but eventually that changed. The n w a was supposed to support the promoters of each territory. So if someone tried to come in and take over a territory from somebody else, there was an organization that could back them up. Early pro wrestling promoters were ruthless, so there was a lot of scamming and fighting. Some were affiliated with the mob. It was as rough as what was happening in the ring. And this started the trend of calling pro wrestling events and organizations by their acronyms.
