The Reluctance to Eat Bugs
In Oaxaca, Mexico, people have long eaten chaplinis, grasshopper. As Oaxacan's have migrated to places like Southern California in particular, they have brought the cuisine with them. The key here is that disgust is socially reinforced. And so insects are so easy for people to associate with people that are not the best and not civilized.
